Firing Guidelines
Ceramics is an unpredictable process, and results can vary. Every effort is made to fire work safely and successfully, but the studio is not responsible for damage during drying, firing, or cooling.
- Pieces must fit within standard kiln shelf dimensions
- Oversized, unusually shaped, or tall work must be approved prior to firing
- Work must be completely dry and properly prepared before firing
- The studio reserves the right to refuse any piece that may pose a risk
- Pieces with glaze on the bottom or applied too heavily will not be fired
- Work that damages kiln shelves or equipment may result in repair or replacement charges
- Thick or improperly dried pieces may crack or explode
- Repeated issues with improperly prepared work may result in suspension of firing privileges
