What should I wear? Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting clay on; clay can be messy. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.
Can I have long hair or nails? Long fingernails can interfere with clay and is not recommended. Long hair should be tied back.
Do I need to bring tools or materials? You can share tools from the studio, purchase your own basic tool kit or bring your own. If you bring your own I will provide a cubby for storage after the class but I highly recommend you put your name on the tool to prevent any mishaps.
Will I need to bring clay? No need to bring anything—clay is included. Handbuilding and beginner wheel classes each come with one 12 lb bag of clay, and advanced wheel classes include a 25 lb bag. Extra clay is available if you’d like more.
Anything else I should bring? Optional: towel or rag, apron, water bottle, hair ties (if applicable)
What happens if I miss a session? If you can find time to book an open session before the next class then you can make up the session. If no open time is available then you will not be able to make up the session. Please reach out and I will make every effort to be available. Only one missed session will be accommodated. Please note that we have a no-refund policy except for extenuating medical circumstances.
Will I make something to take home? For multiple week classes, yes! You can also choose for us to fire your pieces in the intro class for an additional charge. Finished pieces will require a final firing before pickup.
Are glazes included? We will offer standard dipping glazes.
Is this a good activity for visitors? Our Intro to Wheel Throwing makes great date nights, gifts, or creative experiences while visiting Galveston. We would love to host your group, please reach out if you do not see a time on the calendar and we will do our best to accommodate your group while you are visiting. We can finish and fire your piece for an additional charge and even provide shipping if you do not make regular visits to the island.
Is open studio time available? For all classes except our Intro to Clay class you will be allowed two hours of studio time. You will see open studio time slots available in the online calendar. Please choose from those times.
How do I register? Please click the link “More Details” under the class you are interested in taking. This will take you to the class details and provide you with registration options.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule the entire class? If you are unable to attend all classes, please reschedule prior to the start of the first class. If you need to miss a specific class, please reach out to see if there is availability to attend a make up class.
Is parking available? Yes, there is street parking. After you arrive you will be provide a parking pass to place in your vehicle. Please ensure you return that parking pass before you drive off!
Can I buy a gift certificate? Yes, on the home page you will see a button to purchase gift certificates.
